Regulations of the Joint PhD-Programme

The participating parties in the Joint PhD Programme are: Ulm University, International Graduate School in Molecular Medicine (IGradU) and University of Oulu, Health and Biosciences Programme (HBS-DP). The partner universities bring together researchers from a variety of different bioscience and biomedicine oriented research areas, such as developmental biology, regeneration biology, stem cell biology, extracellular matrix research, hypoxia research, cardiology, lipid metabolism and haematology. Administration of the programme

The TissueHome students are affiliated with the graduate school of the Home University and follow the study curriculum of their home institution. The partners each have a joint PhD programme coordinator in their institutions.

Student admission requirements and processes

The TissueHome Steering Committee selects and accepts the students into the joint degree programme. A Home University is appointed individually for each student. This is where the Principal Supervisor is placed. Before the student can officially start in the programme, he/she needs to have doctoral study rights in the Home University. During time of exchange (in total 6 months) each PhD student should also be enrolled at the guest university in an appropriate manner.

Supervision and Follow-Up

Each student has at least two supervisors, including at least one from each university. One supervisor in the Home University is nominated as the Principal Supervisor. The supervisors undertake to provide advice for the doctoral candidate and to jointly direct the programme of research. A Supervision Agreement will be implemented individually for each PhD student enrolled, which will be signed by the PhD student, a legal representative (to be defined) of the University of Oulu, Chairman of IGradU, and one supervisor from each participating university.
