Summary

We recently identified a recurrent microdeletion of the short arm of chromosome 3 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with normal cytogenetics. The commonly deleted region (CDR) contains 8 genes as well as one microRNA. In this project, we will perform genomic and functional characterization of the CDR by addressing the following aspects: (1) validation of the CDR on 3p14.1-p13 in additional cases; (2) functional analysis of the genes and the miRNA; (3) (epi)genetic analysis of the genes and the miRNA; (4) correlation of (epi)genetic findings with clinical characteristics and evaluation of their prognostic and predictive relevance.
