Award ceremony at Dies Academicus: The ExzellenziaUlm research award for excellent young female scientists at Ulm University goes to Dr. Jana Riegger-Koch. She receives the prize for her research into post-traumatic osteoarthritis, which can occur very early after joint injuries and often in people who are active in sport. She is trying to elucidate the underlying processes that lead to irreversible degeneration of articular cartilage and to develop new therapeutic strategies against it.
