E-Learning with ILIAS and Moodle
Since the winter semester 2007/2008 the kiz provides ILIAS and Moodle, the official e-learning platforms of the University of Ulm.
ILIAS (Integrierted Learning-, Information- and Workingcooperation-System) and Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) are Open-Source-Software for learning management systems. They allow the teaching staff to create and supply multimedia-based educational content very easily, to set up virtual classrooms with self definable eligable persons, the setting up of tests, assesments, chats, glossaries, forums, calendar management.
This systems have already been introduced in a lot of universities.

Moodle
Registration and support
All members of the University of Ulm can use ILIAS and Moodle. To gain access to most of the content and applications of this services a kiz basic account is required.
Please follow the instructions below.
ILIAS
If you have a kiz basic account you can activate it online by signing in for the first time in the ILIAS system. For the login please use the username and password of your kiz account. In the following webform you will be able to give some more detailed information which will make it easier to work with the e-learning platform.
The communication with the ILIAS server is encrypted. Your browser may show a warning. You have got to accept the certificat and continue with loading o the website.
After the first registration you will have a reading access to most content within ILIAS, will be able to enroll to online courses and tutorials, to make contributions in the forums etc.
To create own e-learning programs and materials or to make existing material available the teaching members of the University of Ulm need extended access rights. A seperat application has to be made. A succesful registration in ILIAS is required to handle the application for teachers extended rights.
Moodle
If you have a kiz basic account you can activate it online by signing in for the first time in the Moodle system. For the login please use the username and password of your kiz account. After the first registration you will have a reading access to most content within Moodle, will be able to enroll to online courses (role "student").
To create own e-learning programs and materials or to make existing material available the teaching members of the University of Ulm need extended access rights (role "instructor"). A seperat application has to be made. A succesful registration in Moodle is required to handle the application for teachers extended rights.
