WWW Service
The kiz operates the web server of the University of Ulm (address www.uni-ulm.de) with the official homepage. Central insitutions, institutes, employees and students of the university have the possibility to host their institutional, personal or private homepages on this server. There are two options of the web service available:
Web CMS
Since July 2007 a CMS (Content Management System) based on TYPO3 is available on the web server which can be used as an editorial system to create and edit your official internet appearance. All content which is maintained in the web cms automatically appears in the official corporate design of the university. The service "web classical" using SFTP upload can still be used for existing internet appearances, sites with special applications as well as for private homepages.
Web classical
For being able to use web classical a personal unix account of the kiz is required (included in the full package account). The websites are created offline as HTML files with any editor (e.g. Adobe GoLive, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Frontpage) and finally uploaded into a directory of the web server via SFTP including image files if required.
For institutes and other institutions web classical is only available for maintaining older websites. New sites cannot be created. Use the web CMS service instead.
Access statistics
The number of accesses to www.uni-ulm.de are continuously recorded and evaluated according to different criteria and afterwards edited graphically. An anonymisation takes place according to privacy policies.
