Theses/Dissertations: Printing & Binding Service

Bachelor's, Master's, or Diploma Theses

Students may submit their thesis (bachelor's, master's, or diploma thesis, state examination) to kiz and have up to seven copies printed at no charge. This service is financed through tuition fees. Printing and binding requests may be submitted either online or in person at our Service Point Printing & Media Services. Printing your thesis out yourself in the computer labs is not permitted; please also understand that we do not accept papers through e-mail or file attachment.

Online Printing and Binding Order Form

Please follow these guidelines to ensure prompt and efficient order processing:

  • The document must be submitted in PDF. Copy the data to a USB stick if you wish to submit your thesis in person.
  • When you place an order, whether online or in person, you will be asked to identify yourself with your kiz account. Then a Web-based assistant will guide you through the subsequent steps. We would be more than happy to offer advice and answer any questions that you may have.
  • Theses are bound with a transparent plastic front cover and a cardboard back cover (you can choose from a selection of four colors).
  • Binding requests submitted before 11:00 a.m. may be picked up on the same day (after 3:00 p.m.) in the central library (room 2.411, on the third floor). Requests submitted after 11:00 a.m. may be picked up on the following workday after 3:00 p.m. On Fridays, please pick up your copies after 3:00 p.m. at the Central Circulation Desk on the ground floor of the central library.
  • Extra copies in addition to the seven free copies must be paid for when received. We only accept cash-free payment with your University ID (chip card).

Dissertations

Medical dissertations are also eligible for subsidized printing, provided the student completes the dissertation during his/her studies. We also print and bind nonmedical doctoral dissertations for a fee. You may either pay with your University ID (chip card) or have the fee charged to your department. In the latter case, please provide us with a cost center number.

In the case of doctoral dissertations, the order processing procedure differs from the one used for theses binding requests. Among other things, a certain kind of binding is mandatory, and publication on the Ulmer Volltextserver VTS, the institutional repository of the University of Ulm, reduces the required number of deposit copies that need to be submitted. Further information is available at our Service Point University Publications.
