Digital Document Service (DDS)

The Library offers a fee-based scanning service which provides digitized copies of certain library materials (PDF) available for download from our server. This service applies only to library materials shelved in the central library and the stacks, where special book scanners are located. Furthermore, this service is exclusively for library cardholders who have signed up for our e-mail service. You will be charged 0,20 EUR per page.

Please submit your request over the Internet via our online catalog . You also have access to the catalog fom any library computer workstation. Express processing is available for a higher fee: 4,00 EUR per article (up to 20 pages). Please make sure that you write "express" in the comment field provided.

If you submit your request by phone, fax, e-mail or in person, the charge will be 5,00 EUR per article (up to 20 pages).

Delivery

Once the article has been scanned, you will receive a notification per e-mail (demo e-mail) informing you that you may download the PDF file from our server. For testing purposes, we offer a free demo version (demo PDF file, 4 MB!) for download.

If your browser and mail client are correctly configured and Adobe Acrobat Reader is installed on your computer, then you can open the PDF file by merely clicking on the URL link within the e-mail. With Acrobat Reader you can print out the pages that you need or save the article to your computer for future use. If you are using an older modem, we recommend that you first of all completely download and save the file to your computer before you open it. German copyright law specifies that we may only store documents on the server for a short period of time. Therefore, it is important that once you have received the notification per e-mail, you should immediately download (i.e. print out our save) the document.
