Specialist in media and information services is a recognized training occupation according to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) with following specialisations:
- Information and Documentation
- Librarianship
- Visual resources
- Archiving
- Medical Documentation
The main task is to fullfill all information needs of the users competently in the above mentioned fields of activity. (

IT specialist

IT specialist is a recognized training occupation including in-firm and vocational training which is regulated countrywide by the Vocational Training Act. Jobs for IT specialists are offered in the industry, commerce and the public sector.
IT specialists analyse, plan and implement for example custom-built hardware and software solutions; advise and train customers, give support when problems and questions arise within the area of information and communication technology.
Within the profession of IT specialists there are two fields of specialisation: application development and systems integration.

Academic librarian

The professional education for the academic librarian is a library intern training and prepares the trainees for the professional career as academic librarians.
A nationwide overview of libraries which offer traineeships for academic librarians is available via e-mail.
Being the link between science and administration the subject librarian is responsible for the information needs of the users. Next to acquisition and indexing the further development of digital services as well as teaching and schooling courses (teaching information and media competence) are part of the main tasks as an academic librarian.
A wide range of specialised knowledge and a good educational background is as essential for the job as well as the willingness to take care of subjects not related to one's own specialised field. (
