Call for abstracts - Synaesthesia with children. Creativity and learning.

The Call for abstracts is now closed!

The first international meeting on the subject "Synaesthesia and children. Creativity and learning" of the Musische Zentrum will take place at the University of Ulm, Germany on May 11th thru 12th, 2012. The conference will be held in the research building N27 located in the University of Ulm on the Eselsberg, D-89081 Ulm/Germany, James Franck Ring/Meyerhofstraße.


The conference will be hosted by Musisches Zentrum University of Ulm and made possible by Christine Söffing, Klaus Schmidtke, Dr. Jasmin Rani Sinha, Dr. Jörg Jewanski, Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Hinderk Meiners Emrich.

We invite the submission of abstracts from individuals wishing to make a presentation on any of the following:
a scholarly paper, a discussion of creative aspects of synesthesia, a reading, a presentation of visual artwork, audio compositions, or video presentations
in one of these categories:

1. Latest results from the synaesthesia-research.

2. Observations and studies of synesthesia in children.

3. Observations and studies on synesthesia and creativity.

4. Observations and studies on synesthesia and learning.

5. Latest results from the research on creativity.

6. Latest results from the research of learning in particular with children.

If you are interested in being considered for a presentation, please submit an abstract, no longer than 250 words in english or german.

Include your name, e-mail address, telephone contact number, and a short resume (no more than two pages) or web-link to same and a short cv. The number of presentation slots will be limited, so there is no guarantee that a submission can be accepted. Individuals are invited to attend even if they do not intend to make a presentation.

Please also list any audio/visual equipment; including podium and microphone that you might need for your presentation. Please plan to limit your presentation to 20 minutes (not including an additional 10 minutes for questions & answers) in length.

The DEADLINE for submission of abstracts is Sunday, March 4th 2012.


Our abstract review board is representative of the diverse interests, talents, and approaches to exploring and experiencing synesthesia. It includes artists, linguists, historians, and scientists, some of whom are synesthetes themselves.

NOTIFICATION as to whether your proposed paper has been accepted or not will be provided as soon as possible after March 11th 2012.

Please pass this notice on to your colleagues, friends and anyone you might find interested.

There will be no conference-fees for speakers. Everyone will have to pay for travel and accommodation oneself.

We will publish a conference-transcript as a book afterwards.
