The Helmholtz Institute Ulm in cooperation with the Institute of Electrochemistry seek to recruit a
Physicist, Mathematician, Engineer (m/f).
Starting as soon as possible.
At the Helmholtz Institute Ulm for Electrochemical Energy Storage, the newly founded center of excellence in battery research, more than 100 scientists are performing research on the next generation of electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Within this context, our department Electrochemical Multiphysics Modeling invites applicants from all over the world to work with us.
Our team models physico-chemical processes inside batteries – from the nanoscale to the macroscale. Together with our experimental and theoretical partners, we are developing innovative next-generation batteries for electric mobility and stationary grid storage applications. We are bridging the gap between fundamental and applied research as well as between quantum and thermodynamic methods.
In this project, you will computationally model the dynamics of lithium ion batteries based on partial differential equations. With our Danish project partners from industry and academia and their expertise in atomistic materials simulations, we want to understand the dynamic multi-scale processes in these storage systems and develop methods and algorithms to transfer results from atomistic simulations into a continuum simulation tool.
We offer a stimulating research environment, support your individual ideas, and enable international visibility of your research results.
- Very good dissertation in physics, engineering, mathematics, or chemistry
- Strong knowledge of theory, simulation, and modeling
- Passion for innovative research and self-reliant personality
- Very good knowledge of English
Expect a fulfilling job within a demanding environment where your commitment is highly appreciated. Please send applications (CV and letter) until October 18, 2017 to Dr. Birger Horstmann, Helmholtz Institute Ulm, Helmholtzstraße 11, 89081 Ulm, Tel. + 49 (0) 731 50-34311, Email email@example.com. Please indicate the index number 96 on the envelope.
This is a full-time position with a fixed term contract. Remuneration is in accordance with TV-L.
The University of Ulm is committed to increase the share of women in research and teaching positions and therefore explicitly encourages female candidates to apply.
Job sharing is always possible for full time positions. Physically disabled applicants receive favourable consideration when equally qualified. The appointment is made by the central university administration.
