Research in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences

All around the world, progress in science and technology is marked by innovations in the fields of engineering and computer science. A visible trend is emerging towards increasingly complex adaptive systems, in which the conventional border between hardware and software becomes blurred. Software systems are becoming more and more complex, requiring more efficient algorithms as well as improved methods and processes for developing, realising and functionally verifying them. Such systems require increasingly powerful hardware components with new functions, and they must also be energy efficient - in particular for use in mobile systestems.

Another important aspect of our research is optimising usability and functional transparency of technical systems for human use. Integrating psychology as a third field of study in our faculty, with a clear research focus on human-computer interaction, makes direct cooperation possible between scientists in the fields of engineering, computer science and psychology, leading to ground-breaking research in the future.
