Research

Research at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence concentrates on task planning, knowledge modelling and knowledge representation, and automated reasoning. Central to our work are methodological issues that are of particular relevance to the application of AI technology in many areas.

With the foundation of the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre SFB/Transregio 62 "A Companion-Technology for Cognitive Technical Systems" the main focus is on realizing high-level cognitive processes within technical systems. In addition to developing methods, components, and tools it is their practical testing in an interdisciplinary cooperation with engineers, neuroscientists and psychologists that takes centre stage.
