4 Accepted Submissions at CHI Play 2016

The Institute of Media Informatics was represented at this year's CHI Play in Austin, TX, USA with 4 accepted submissions. Katja Rogers presented her paper "Emotional Resonance: Investigating the role of audio in games" as part of the workshop on "Designing for Emotional Complexity in Games: The Interplay of Positive and Negative Affect", and introduced her poster "Towards Player-Centric Adaptivity: Interactions of Gameplay Behaviour and Player Traits in a Survival Game" at the main conference. Julian Frommel presented new interaction forms for pervasive games with "2084 - Safe New World: Designing Ubiquitous Interactions". Johannes Bonenberger, student member of last year's Serious Games project, demonstrated his team's jump'n'run - puzzle game about Boolean algebra "Bool the Miner" at the Student Game Design Competition.

Cooperative Project Wins Idea Contest

The cooperative project "Development of a gamified bolus calculator app for patients with diabetes mellitus" created by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Claudia Schrader (serious games), Prof. Dr. Dr. Olga Pollatos (health psychology), Prof. Dr. K. Graichen und Dr. T. Utz (Institute for Measurement, Control, and Micro Technology) won the idea contest held by the Faculty for Engineering and Computer Science at Ulm University. [more]


Application Subject Serious Games Enters Second Round!

After developing the fundamental game concepts for their serious games in the summer semester 2014, our teams are now entering the critical phase of game implementation. The resulting games will help to examine topical psychological research questions. [more]
