This interactive workshop focuses on the individual and their success habits and shall provide tools, techniques and tips regarding personal time management, decision making and communication.
A participant will receive an objective picture of his / her current work, time and prioritization rituals as well as cutting edge methods and systems to structure and fully live out the opportunities and tasks with which he / she is faced daily.

Germany: Welcome!

This workshop is aimed at international doctoral candidates who have come to Germany and would like to know: what is different at a German university? What is the mentality of the Germans? How do I get to know locals? What is the meaning of German behavior?
The course will help you to feel more comfortable at university and in everyday life in Germany.

Applying for Positions

In this workshop you will learn:

To identify your REAL strengths – what do you think your strengths are? What do other people think your strengths are – are these the same?

To consider the opportunities you have in terms of job and research positions. How much competition will you face if you apply for an advertised job? What about on spec applications? How many jobs are never advertised?

To write a good covering letter. Which font should you use? Why? What about spacing? How important are the start and the end of the letter?

To optimize your CV in English. What are the key differences between an English and a German CV? What is not allowed? Do you need a photo? Should you sign your CV?

How to Teach German Students

This seminar provides support for foreign scientists to facilitate teaching in Germany. It will inform you about cultural differences in the academic context and provide useful advice for the daily scientific interactions. It will expand your repertoire of teaching styles and inform you about the ways German discuss, participate in lectures and judge performances.

In diesem Seminar werden Kulturelle Unterschiede im akademischen Kontext bearbeitet und hilfreiches Wissen vermittelt. Wie prägt Kultur den Stil des Lernens und Lehrens? Welche Unterrichtsformen, Strukturen und Didaktik sind ausländische Studierende von ihren Heimatuniversitäten gewöhnt? Welche schwierigen Situationen können in der Interaktion auftreten? Das Seminar erweitert Ihr Repertoire an Lehrstilen und informiert darüber, wie Sie mit unterschiedlichen Erwartungen bezüglich Diskussionen, mündlicher Mitarbeit oder Leistungsbeurteilung umgehen können.
