General advices for your scholarship search

READ detailed on the internet pages of the foundation to their scholarships because many information you get from the (sometimes well hidden) texts/pages. Because of the vast number of foundations/scholarships in the internet it is important to reject all the foundations/scholarships who sponsor (a stay abroad for) German students or if the sponsoring refer to a other city/University than Ulm. Beside the internet you can ask in your department for further scholarship possibilities.

Generally there are scholarships for BSc. and MSc. studies, Promotion/PhD and thesis (BSc., MSc.). Nevertheless not all foundations support all kinds of scholarships. According to the foundation oscillate the amounts of scholarships between 100 - 1000 € (mean 300 - 600 €). There are foundations which support exclusively the tuition fees. Other foundations only offer an assisstance program, they don't promote with money.

Some foundations are summarized in foundation groups. Then the scholarship allocation takes place over the foundation or over the superior foundation group. An application is somtimes only over the University or the professor/department possible and can't be submited by the students. For some thesis scholarships (BSc., MSc.) there are cooperations between company and department necessary.

The most foundations demand normally excellent or above-average scores (better note 2). Emphazise a foundation honorary commitment is it to describe/allocate. Futhermore is to verify that the study can not be carried out/finished without a financial support.

Documents for a application are rather (usually in German):

- letter of motivation
- application
- tabular and/or detailed CV
- enrolment certification
- (legalised) copies of study certifications
- (legalised) testimony copies of higher education entrance qualification, Vordiplom, BSc., MSc.
- often 2 Professor estimate over the professional and personal qualification
  (frequently professors have to send this letters directly to the foundation)
- proof of income (parents, own income)
