Taxi
Taxis in Germany are rather expensive. However, if you share a taxi with your friends who have the same destination, it might be a good bargain for you. A ride from the inner city to the Universität Ulm or to other distant parts of the city will be about 10 to 15 Euro.

CAR2GO
Car2go offers a completely new form of mobility in and around Ulm. The idea is when you need a car you can immediately book any of the available cars on the street or reserve one in advance. You are nearly free to choose the place of return and there are no fixed costs involved. In order to participate you need to register and have a seal placed on your driver’s licence. The non-recurring fee is 19,00 €. The cars are equipped with a card reader on the windshield. Placing your registered licence on the card reader unlocks the car and once your personal PIN has been entered the car is ready to go. More Information can be found here:

On foot
The inner cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm are quite small and everything there can be reached by foot conveniently. However, the universities (and also some student residences) in Ulm and Neu-Ulm are located on the outskirts of the cities.
Bicycle
Exploring Ulm by bicycle is easy. There are a lot of bike paths in the city. Especially cycling along the Danube river is very popular. But be aware that Ulm University and parts of Ulm University of Applied Sciences are in higher regions of the city and the altitude difference to the inner city is up to 200 m.

If you take your bike with you onto the bus you have to buy an additional ticket for a child for the distance you want to drive. You can use the bus from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until the end of the business day, on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays the whole day. If the driver gives you permission, you can take your bike off-time with you. It is allowed to transport 2 bikes inside the bus. With your bike, you have to enter the bus at the second door.
Bicycle Repair Shop
The Ulm University features a bicycle repair shop, where all students can repair their bicycles and can get help and advice from other students. It is located underneath the Mensa of Ulm University, O25.
