Young Researchers Coffee Hour

The Young Researchers Coffee Hour is a monthly forum for controversial, yet fruitful discussions about research and science for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.

Every Coffee Hour is dedicated to a topic of interest for young researchers. The exchange of experiences and opinions with your peers takes centre stage. As a basis for discussion, each topic will be introduced by a guest speaker and expert in the respective field. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided.

Jan. 26, 2017: Open Access: The Future of Academic Publishing?

The debate over Open Access Publishing has caused a great stir in academia. Doubts about the traditional way of publishing and disseminating of research are openly and widely expressed. How does this affect young scientists whose academic future considerably relies on the best possible publication of their research?

We want to address this key debate in an open and meaningful discussion with you and your peers. Share your thoughts, get involved: What do you think about Open Access publishing?

Our guest and expert is Uli Hahn, Open Access Officer at Ulm University. He will give a brief introduction to Open Access publishing at the beginning of the Coffee Hour and will then join our discussion.

Coffee, tea and cookies are provided.
