Fascial Anatomy in Three Dimensions

A course particularly suited for manual and movement therapists which are interested in an in-depth exploration of the 3-dimensional spatial anatomy of human fascial anatomy. Attention will be given to fascial connections that influence human posture, respiration, movement flexibility and locomotion. Of special interest will be fascial layers which are prone to adhesion formation and other clinically important tissue adaptations palpable for a 'knowledgeable hand'.
While 2-dimensional textbook anatomy provides definite limitations, this course provides an unprecedented opportunity for getting a graspable picture and understanding of the 3-dimensional fascial network in human bodies. To achieve this purpose the course includes the following three avenues, which will be skillfully interwoven throughout these two days:
- use of specially prepared human cadaver specimens for demonstration as well as palpatory exploration of fascial architecture
- use of high resolution ultrasound imaging to visualize and explore the same fascial layers in living human bodies
- lecture presentations on clinically relevant aspects of fascial architecture by Carla Stecco, Robert Schleip and Sonja Soeder
