This is how you apply:

Step 1: Registration in the campus portal of Ulm University
You register online via "My personal campus portal".
After self-registration, you will receive an e-mail with the activation code and a request to confirm your personal account in the campus portal of Ulm University.

Step 2: Application in the campus portal of Ulm University
You submit your application via "My personal campus portal" and upload the required documents.

  • a bachelor's degree or an equal recognized degree in Computational Science and Engineering or another programme with largely equivalent content;

 

Outstanding candidates with a degree in either Mathermatics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Engineering obtained at a German or foreign higher education institution, or a qualification which is recognised as equivalent at the level of at least three years of study, can apply as well.

 

  • a bachelor's degree with an overall final grade of 2.5 or better,

 

or if you have not yet completed your degree:
the study achievements and exam results with a minimum of 140 credit points (ECTS-points) and an average grade of 2.7 or better.

 

  • Applicants with a bachelor's degree with an overall final grade of 3.0 or better, or a bachelor's thesis with a grade of 2.0 or better,

 

or if you have not yet completed your degree:
the study achievements and exam results with a minimum of 140 credit points (ECTS-points) and an average grade of 3.0 or better
are required to demonstrate their suitability for the master's programme in a selection interview.

When submitting your application via "My personal campus portal", you must upload the following documents:

  • Bachelor's degree diploma and bachelor's degree certificate with final grade as well as overview of subjects and grades / transcript of records with credit points / Diploma Supplement if available
  • If you have not yet completed your higher education degree: overview of subjects and grades/transcript of records issued by the higher education institution with the total credit points earned up to the application deadline and an indication of the provisional average grade.
  • Form requesting subject-specific additional information (pdf)
  • For non-German-taught bachelor's degree programme: proof of German language proficiency
  • In the case of a higher education degree from China, Vietnam or India: APS certificate or APS confirmation. If APS certificate from India is not yet available, please upload proof of application.
  • In the case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the bachelor's degree diploma/bachelor's degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution.
  • If proof and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required
  • For applicants who do not come from an EU country or the European Economic Area and have a German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”): proof of higher education entrance qualification

Please note:

  • It is not necessary to certify the supporting documents.
  • When submitting the application, all required supporting documents must be uploaded. Subsequent submission is not possible.
  • Application documents in paper form, as a fax or by e-mail will not be accepted.
  • A document issued in another name must be supplemented by documentary evidence of the change of name.
  • Further supporting documents may be required for your application.

 

Admission will be granted when the following prerequisites are fulfilled:

  • Compliance with the form and deadline of your application
  • Fulfilment of entrance requirements
  • Proof of equivalence regarding the subject-matter of your study qualification (decision of the admissions committee)

If you hold a Bachelor of Science in computational Science and Engineering from Ulm University, an application is not required. You can go to the Studiensekretariat (student administration and examinations office) instead and fill out an 'application for change of programme' (Antrag auf Studiengangwechsel) as soon as you graduate, given that your grades meet the requirements as stated in the admission statute

  • immediate enrolment in master's programme with a final grade of 1.0 to 2.5
  • invitation for selection interview with a final grade of 2.6 to 3.0 or a bachelor’s thesis with a total grade of 1.0 to 2.0
