Invitation to Fp5
..
We have the very great pleasure to invite you to participate and to contribute to the

Fifth International Symposium on
Functional p-Electron Systems (Fp5)

which will be held at the Edwin-Scharff-Haus in Neu-Ulm (Germany) from Thursday, May 30th to Tuesday, June 4th in 2002.
...
This Symposium represents the 5th consecutive congress in a series named “International Symposium on Functional Dyes” and follows the initial one in Osaka (Japan, 1989) the second in Kobe (Japan, 1992) the third in Santa Cruz (USA, 1995), and the fourth in Osaka (Japan, 1999). The total number of participants for each symposium totalled 500 to 600 from 12 to 15 nations. In order to broaden the scope of the Symposium and to align itself to actual developments in academic and industrial research the name has been changed to "International Symposium on Functional  p-Electron Systems".
...
Fp5 has two main objectives. Firstly to combine biology, chemistry, physics and applications of functional  p-electron systems, and secondly to strengthen interactions between academia and industrial research.
...
The Symposium will include Key Note Lectures, Plenary Lectures and Contributed Papers in Oral and Poster Presentations.
..
We are very happy to announce and would like to bring to your attention, that the most outstanding scientists in the various fields (including two Nobel Laureates) have accepted to contribute to Fp5. This unique Symposium will provide information on further developments in such an attractive and interdisciplinary field. In addition, the Symposium is designed to stimulate and encourage young researchers who will be carrying science and technology forward into the 21st century.
..
Ulm/Neu-Ulm, Albert Einstein's birth place, is located at the Danube river in the southern part of Germany halfway between Stuttgart and Munich. From the 161 m high spire of the Ulm Cathedral you will have a fantastic panoramic view to the Alps as a stunning backdrop. The historical quarters, the colorful and picturesque townhall and the old warehouse are evidence of the pride and wealth of the medieval city. On the other hand, Ulm/Neu-Ulm is the home location of many important industries, modern science parks, University, research institutes, new enterprises, start-ups and the Daimler-Chrysler research center.
...
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we look forward to welcoming you in Ulm/Neu-Ulm, May 2002.
