Who is eligible for Master Online Program Advanced Oncology?
- Physicians able to verify one year of professional experience in oncology
- Natural scientists able to verify two years of professional experience in oncology
When do I have to apply?
Applications must be received by Ulm University between January 1st and April 15th every year.
Which documents do I need to submit?
The following documents are to be submitted as pdf files via the online application system:
- College or university degree in medicine or natural sciences, which shows the overall grade point average (if the diploma does not give the overall grade point average, please submit the transcript of records of the degree exams).
- Physicians: verification (for example, job reference letter) of one year of professional experience in oncology; Natural Scientists: verification of two years of professional experience in oncology.
- Proof of a sufficient command of the English language (e.g. TOEFEL exam).
- Letter of motivation in which you should explain why you believe you are eligible for this program and how and why it will support your intended career.
- Curriculum vitae with list of publications (if applicable).
Where should I send my application?
The application documents must be submitted via our 
online application system until April 15th.
How are the seats in the study program allocated?
- First step: Pre-selection according to Bachelor overall grade point average and additional qualification.
- Second step: Personal interviews with the applicants by video conference (SKYPE).
Costs
How much is the study fee?
The study fee is 4,875 € per semester plus 103.50 € administrative fee per semester. It includes all costs for the 6 modules, tutorial guidance, online conferences, exams and master thesis. Travel, living expenses and accommodation costs during the 6 attendance seminars are not included in the fee. For full board an amount of about 110 € per day should be calculated.
Is it possible to pay the study fee by installments?
After prior agreement it is possible to pay the study fee by installments.

Program
How long is the duration of the study program?
The program takes 4 semesters (2 years) and consists of 6 modules.
When does the study program start?
The program starts every year in October.
How are the exams organized?
The exams will be held at the end of each module during the attendance seminars.
What is the tuition language?
The tuition language is English. This is the reason why a proof of sufficient command of the English language should be presented with the application. If English is the native language or the applicant has earned at least 10 points in courses conducted in the English language during the previous studies at a college or university, this requirement does not apply.
Which academic degree will I obtain after successful completion of the study program?
The successful completion of the study program leads to the international academic degree Master of Science (M.Sc.) with a total of 60 ECTS credit points. In addition it is possible to obtain the Clinical Investigator Certificate (with the included GCP-Certificate).
Is the Master's degree worldwide recognized?
This program is worldwide recognized, especially in Europe, since the program is based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
Do I have to come to Germany to participate in the study program?
This study program is mainly an online based program. In addition, 6 seminars will take place near Ulm, Germany (5 days each) and one in Ermatingen, Switzerland. During these attendance seminars the exams will be held as well.
Is this Master program geared towards certain specialists?
The program is not defined for any group of specialists, but every applicant has to proof one year (two years for natural scientists) of professional experience in oncology.
Organization
Is it possible to complete the study program while working full-time?
This program is an extra-occupational program that enables to combine career, family and study. The workload is 360 hours per semester, i.e. 14 hours per week. However, there is no weekly study schedule, so the program allows individual time management.
What are the technical pre-requirements to participate in this program?
Access to an internet connection with a minimal rate of 200 kbit/s is absolutely required. Additionally, a webcam, headset and SKYPE account (for the personal interview) are indispensable.
Master's Thesis
Which facts should I know about the Master's Thesis?
In general, the Master's Thesis is a theoretical essay on a topic related to one of the program’s modules of the student's choice. It is possible to integrate a research setting, but this is not obligatory. The timeframe to write the thesis may not exceed 6 months.
Is it possible to collaborate with a laboratory in Ulm during the Master's Thesis?
Depending on the cooperation of a laboratory in Ulm, this is basically feasible. It is possible to introduce students to the director of a department (e.g. pathology, experimental tumor research…), in order to establish personal contact. However, further commitment is subject to the individual decision of department directors.
