Tuition and Fees:
A fee of 500 EUR per semester will be due for students enrolling in 2007, as a contribution towards the cost of study. An additional social fee (currently 94 EUR) will be charged per semester.
Students are responsible for their own living expenses which, as a guideline, amount to EUR 600 (about US$780) per month.
Financial support:
The study fee of 500 EUR per semester levied from 2007 onwards amounts to only about 10% of the actual cost of study per student at the University of Ulm. Hence, all students receive automatically a very sizeable support of their studies from tax revenues. Students are, however, fully responsible for their cost of living.
Still, there are several possibilities for additional financial support. The most common method of support for foreign students from the second semester onwards comes from part time research assistantships provided by the research groups within the School of Advanced Materials (called HiWi jobs). You will have to look for them yourself, thus providing you with the opportunity to choose a research group of your own interest.
However, since the main purpose in coming to Ulm is to studying and obtain a master's degree, we strongly recommend that students do not take on more than about 20 hours per month.
