Ulm is offering a

Master thesis: Therapy of leukemia using measles virus

The position is available immediately in the Section of Experimental Pediatric Oncology (Prof. Beltinger www.uniklinik‐ulm.de/beltinger) within the large research laboratory of the department. The group is interested in the pathogenesis of embryonic tumors and in exploring experimental cancer therapies. The project’s aim is to find signaling pathways determining the specific sensitivity of human acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) to leukemia‐destroying attenuated measles virus. Using ALL propagated in mice and human lymphocytes the student will infect the cells  ex vivo with measles, determine cell death, perform global expression analysis using mRNA sequencing, search for activated signaling pathways using bioinformatics and verify the results by quantitative RT‐PCR. Time permitting, functional investigations of a select pathway will be initiated.

• Master student of molecular medicine, biology or biochemistry

• Enthusiasm for translational experimental oncology

• Affinity to global gene expression approaches
