Summer Academy
Stochastic geometry, spatial statistics and random fields
September 13th - September 26th, 2009
Coordinator: Evgeny Spodarev
This Summer Academy is the first of the following series of academies:
- 2009 - Stochastic geometry, spatial statistics and random fields
- 2010 - Stochastic finance
- 2011 - Stochastic models in natural sciences and engineering
Summer Academy 2009 is organized by The Institute of Stochastics, The Institute of Number Theory and Probability Theory, The International Office of Ulm University in cooperation with Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The aim of Summer Academy 2009 is to give a concise introduction into the methods, results and applications of stochastic geometry and spatial statistics. These fields are modern research areas of applied stochastics that experienced a rapid growth in the last three decades. They deal with a quantitative description of random geometric forms such as e.g. point patterns, sets or surfaces. In contrast with previous summer schools on this subject, the focus will be on asymptotic methods of spatial stochastics, related aspects of the theory of random fields and their applications.
During the Summer Academy, leading international experts in the fields of stochastic geometry, spatial statistics and random fields will share their knowledge with graduate and PhD students as well as young researchers in the course of several series of lectures. Additionally, the Summer Academy will provide a forum for an active exchange of ideas and new joint research projects. Participants are expected to actively contribute to the scientific program of the Academy by giving short talks on their current research projects.
