Learning by Research

"Learning by Research" enables older people to address and to work on subjects that are no longer actual or were never examined before. During their work they also discover not yet researched facts. Experience of the older people is taken into consideration in all questions of the research design and the research itself.

Following criteria are characteristic for this method:

• autonomous choice of subject by the senior students
• autonomous strategy, esp. in decisions concerning choice of appropriate methods, test design, investigations etc.
• unlimited risk of errors and detours on the one hand, and chance of finding interesting items accidentally, "fruitful moments", unexpected side results on the other
• the necessity to meet the requirements of science
