"Research by Active Travelling", as practised by ZAWiW since several years, comprises active investigating of culture and history of a country ore town, and encountering - others and themselves. Will and ability to exchange ideas is required, and one should be curious to discover the own in the foreign. That is the case especially in the encountering and exchange program.

In non-fixed intervals ZAWiW is offering journeys in the sense of Active Travelling in co-operation with the Institute for Virtual Learning in Senior Education at the University of Ulm (ILEU) and other institutions.

In the context of the European project ODE (Open Doors for Europe) we will initiate a partnership with the Polish Universities of the Third Age (UTA) from Lodz and Lublin in autumn 2004. With these UTA's and members of the UTA's of Vicenza, Italy, and Alicante, Spain, we will co-operate in a European project and will have encounters between people of different age in a German-Polish generations project.

The first encounter of the partner groups took place in November 2004 in Lublin.

A second international meeting of the partners was scheduled for April 2005 in Bad Urach.

Together we want to build bridges. We are looking for people being interested in active participation in an encounter project. We are also looking for people which are able to give us support in foreign languages (e.g. Polish, Czech, Russian, Lithuanian...), or in providing temporary accommodation.
