KZ07 - Development of Measurement-, Monitoring-, Modeling- and Control-Strategies to prevent the formation of product aggregates in production processes with mammalian cells

The formation of product aggregates in the course of the production process is a serious problem associated with the manufacturing of recombinant biopharmaceuticals which can occur during upstream and downstream processing. The aim of this project is to develop tools which enable a real-time monitoring of protein aggregates in cell cultures performed in bioreactors. These tools will then be used to establish control loops which enable the reduction of aggregate formation in a bioprocess. The applicant should have expertise in cell culture technology and/or bioprocess engineering.
