Occupational Safety - scope of responsibilities

The occupational safety specialists support the University's staff in all matters relating to occupational safety. The responsibilities include consulting in questions of occupational safety, fire and explosion protection plus accident prevention in the planning, execution, maintenance and operation of work stations as well as the procedures and work flows applied in this context.

The specialists advise the users on the preparation of operating instructions and risk assessments; they can also help staff with compiling materials for instruction sessions. The specialists participate in the evaluation of working conditions at the workplace (noise, climate, lighting, ventilation). You come here for qualified advice on all questions concerning the selection and testing of personal protective equipment. Please also reach out to the specialists if you have problems with the various requirements for the conduction of safety inspections of operational facilities and technical equipment.

There are regular inspections of the facilities on site. Any defects identified during the inspection are documented and support is provided to the user in order to remedy the defects. The Occupational Safety department strives to make it as easy as possible for the directors of the institutions to record equipment that requires inspection. Please use this form (in German) to enter devices from your institution that require inspection. Please give the form to the safety specialists during an inspection or send it to Ms Elze. We will collect this data and assist you with organising the inspection.

The regular investigation and evaluation of work accidents and occupational diseases by the specialists serves to develop measures for their prevention and avoidance.
