As a new telephony feature, the kiz has put a VoIP telephone system from the provider 3CX into operation. The system is part of the university's system network and is thus connected to the existing Alcatel infrastructure. The system is operated to support the telephone availability of employees who are increasingly working in their home offices, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic. With 3CX, business calls can be made from home via the university. Internal calls between University extensions can be made without using exchange lines and without the costs that this may entail. In consultation with the university management and the staff council, the system will initially be operated on a trial basis until 30 June 2021.
