Search function of this website
The search function on this website utilises a Google service. We integrated a 2-click solution to ensure that data are collected only when the search function is activated. If you do not want your data to be collected by Google, please do not use the search function. Your data are only transferred when you activate the search button.
Some websites of Ulm University use so-called social plugins. These social plugins normally transfer user data to the respective social networks (e.g. Facebook, Google+, Twitter) every time the site is accessed, and provide information to these social networks on your browsing behaviour (user tracking). You do not need to be logged in nor do you need to be a member of the network for this.
You can prevent the above mentioned social networks from collecting your data by logging out before visiting our website. Furthermore, you can install specific blockers in the add-ons section of your browser.
Even if you don't have accounts with Facebook, Google+, Twitter or YouTube is it possible that these networks collect data. This might be, for example, the IP address. If you don't want your data to be collected by these social networks, please look into their privacy policies. They will also provide information on the purpose and extent of the data collection as well as on the further processing and use of data and your rights and configuration options to protect your privacy.

To prevent this from happening we use the c’t project 'Shariff' offered by magazine publisher Heise. Shariff allows you to use the social media channels and share contents without unnecessarily exposing your privacy. Shariff has an intermediary function: instead of the browser it is the server of Ulm University that retrieves the number of likes every minute (less traffic). The visitor stays anonymous. This means that a Shariff button only creates direct contact between the social network and the visitor if the visitor clicks on the share button.
For further information on Shariff, please see: http://www.heise.de/ct/artikel/Shariff-Social-Media-Buttons-mit-Datenschutz-2467514.html

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Inc. ('Google'). Google Analytics uses so-called cookies, which are text files that get stored on your computer in order to analyse your usage of the website. The information that the cookie gathers about your usage of this website gets usually transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA.
This website has IP anonymisation activated. This means that Google shortens your IP address before transmission whenever you visit this website from inside a member state of the European Union and any other country that is contracting party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. In exceptional cases, the full IP address gets transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.
Google uses this information by order of the website operator to analyse your usage of this website, compile reports on the website activities and provide further services in relation to website usage and internet usage to the website operator. Google does not consolidate the IP address, that your browser transmits as part of Google Analytics, with other data.
You can prevent the storage of cookies by changing the settings of your browser software; please be advised, however, that this might inhibit you from using the full function spectrum of this website.
There are two other options to prevent cookies from collecting data about your usage of this website (incl. your IP address) and transmitting them to Google as well as the processing of those data by Google:
1. Download and install the opt-out browser add-on provided by Google.
2. Set the so-called opt-out cookie provided by Google. You can set the cookie by clicking on the link Deactivate Google Analytics.
This website uses the extension code 'anonymizeIp' to anonymise IP addresses (IP masking) for Google Analytics.
