Post-Doc position in wearable bioelectronics and signal processing

Ulm University

The Institute of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ulm invites applications for a full time, senior research position (m/f/d) starting as soon as possible; remuneration and benefits according to TV-L E13 regulations. One year appointment (80%-100%) with option for renewal.

Background

A major challenge in low resource settings is to find affordable technology to improve the care of critically ill patients. Through the Wellcome Trust VITAL project we have been developing mobile health solutions for vital sign monitoring of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases, Ho Chi Minh City. This project will focus specifically on developing these further for monitoring fluid shifts in patients with severe dengue fever.
Specific project aims are to develop a motion-aware, wearable bioimpedance to track disease progression and monitor fluid leakage. Together with our partners of Oxford University in Vietnam, the device will be characterized for sensitivity to fluid shifts. The work will lead to new strategies for monitoring patients in challenging settings.

Job description, duties and tasks
