Coherent Multistatic UAV-Based SAR
By distributing radar sensors across multiple UAVs, new applications and improved imaging become possible.
But how are the individual sensors synchronized in order to continue using the principle of synthetic aperture (SAR)?
In our article, we present a concept in which synchronization is achieved through signal processing, enabling lossless imaging.
Published in IEEE Transactions on Radar Systems, available as an early-access article.

UAV-Based Bistatic SAR-Imaging
The combination of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) with bistatic measurement geometries creates an opportunity to improve imaging significantly. A repeater element can be used for bistatic imaging to circumvent the need for highly accurate synchronization. The new article in the Journal of Microwaves, authored and co-authored by KoRaTo-Members Alexander Grathwohl and Julian Kanz, shows simultaneous mono- and bistatic SAR imaging with an airborne UAV-based radar system and a stationary repeater element in a practical measurement scenario.
