Paper accepted at EG VCBM 2016

Our paper describing a new tool for blood flow visualisation has been accepted at 6th the Eurographics Workshop on Visual Computing for Biology and Medicine. The paper is first authored by Rickard Englund, Linköping University.

The authors present a new method for blood flow visualization and exploration which is based on the finite-time Lyapunov Exponent (FTLE) and shows coherent flow regions. The FTLE values are computed for 2D cross-sectional slices with defined in-flow/out-flow regions. Local minima are clustered using the DBSCAN algorithm. The results are summarized via showing cluster representatives and pie charts. The method was evaluated on cardiac blood flow data (4D PC-MRI) and on aneurysm blood flow data from a CFD simulation.

The workshop will take place at Bergen, September 7-9, 2016.
