Orientation and Introductory Events
At the beginning of their study and their stay in Ulm, foreign students are faced with various challenges. Due to a lack of German language skills, the international students in the English-taught study programs could meet more difficulties. Moreover, as they have got used to their academic cultures as well as teaching and learning systems, the German higher education system may be totally unfamiliar to them.
In order to begin their studies easily and to pursue the degree successfully, it is important for the international students to be quickly and intensively introduced to the local teaching and learning culture. The implementation of interdisciplinary and subject-specific orientation activities / events guarantees the establishment of minimum standards of students support at the beginning of their studies. A bundling and coordination of the different offers makes the students feel easier at the beginning of their studies and hence they can be quickly integrated into the German academic culture / society.
