The total duration of a bachelor's degree program at European universities, and in Germany in particular, is three years. The total duration of a bachelor's degree program at Ukrainian universities is four years. The first year of study at a Ukrainian university is recognized in Germany as the final year of high school.
For Ukrainian students, studies at the University of Ulm begin in the summer semester of their second year. For students of the University of Ulm, this is the summer semester of their first year. The distribution of Ukrainian students by semester is shown in the table.

While studying at the University of Ulm, students are credited for courses from the Kharkiv National University curriculum, and vice versa, while studying at Kharkiv National University, students are credited for courses from the University of Ulm curriculum. At the end of their studies, students prepare one bachelor's qualification (diploma) thesis, which they defend at both universities.
At the University of Ulm, they receive a BSc in Mathematics, and at Kharkiv National University, they receive a bachelor's degree in their field of study (Fundamental or Applied Mathematics or Theoretical and Applied Computer Science).
