Digital transformation programmes

Planning, evaluation and implementation of digital transformation in businesses

In the age of digitisation, the majority of all businesses are implementing digital transformation programmes. Among other things, these programmes serve to automate business processes, evaluate large data sets in an automated manner, make automated decisions with the help of artificial intelligence, etc. Such programmes usually have a long planning horizon and comprise a large number of IT projects that interact and build on each other. Moreover, since programme managers typically change the initial planning several times during the lifespan of such programmes (e.g., postpone IT projects, cancel them, or expand them to include a follow-up project), dependencies and options to change plans must be taken into account when planning digital transformation programmes.

In this research area, the Institute of Business Analytics designs and evaluates approaches to the digitisation of business processes and to the planning, assessment, and selection of IT projects in digital transformation programmes.
