PhD Student (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter / TV-L E13)
The Institute of Pure Mathematics at Ulm University is hiring a PhD student starting from April 1, 2020.
The research project for this position is in the area of arithmetic geometry and studies Galois descent of algebraic curves. It aims both to obtain theoretical results on the obstruction to descent and to implement these results constructively and algorithmically in computer algebra systems. These different aspects of the project are intended to interact and strengthen one another.
The candidate should have a strong background in algebra, and ideally both in algebraic geometry and number theory. Experience with computer algebra systems and constructive mathematics are also highly appreciated.
We offer a postion as "Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter" (TV-L E13). Being funded by a grant of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), this position involves no teaching duties.
Applications including a curriculum vitae, transcript of records, and references for recommendation letters, can be sent to Jeroen Sijsling. Further questions about the position are also most welcome. Applications received by the beginning of February 2020 will receive priority.
