The FOKuS Programme

The FOKuS preparatory programme comprises three parts: ... Language, Specialised Courses and Culture

Learn more about the programme here!

  • 1. German as a Foreign Language

    • At the heart of the FOKuS programme lie the language courses: both the B2 language course and the DSH preparatory course last one semester.
    • Courses are led by experienced instructors.
    • You can choose to supplement these core language courses with other more specialised German courses offered by our language centre.
  • 2. Specialised Courses, Soft Skills and Advising

    • Many programmes at German universities require strong foundations in math and computer literacy. In our specialised courses, we review key concepts in these areas to ensure that you fulfill your future programme's prerequisites.
    • In addition to our courses, you can take advantage of the tutorials offered by Ulm University to strengthen your soft skills. These tutorials target important topics such as developing learning strategies, reading and writing academic papers, and preparing for the different types of exams (oral, written, etc.) that are prevalent at German universities.
    • In our interactive workshop on intercultural communication, you will get the opportunity to delve into cultural differences and learn about the German mentality and culture.
    • At the beginning of the FOKuS programme, you will receive lots of information and tips about Ulm University as well as living and studying in Ulm. Throughout the entire programme, you will also have access to individualised advising. We are happy to help you find the right study programme for you!
  • 3. German Culture and Society

    • You will learn lots about Germany in our German Regional Studies course: history, politics, culture and more will be covered!
