EcoSocMan Summer School 2025 – Learning in Nature, Across Borders
From September 7th to 19th, the EcoSocMan Summer School took place in the Bavarian Forest, the Šumava border region, and Budweis/České Budějovice.
Students and partners from six partner institutions of this ERASMUS+ cooperation partnership joined the program: the Estonian University of Life Sciences (Tartu), the University of South Bohemia (Budweis), Aix-Marseille University (France), Ulm University, the Ukrainian National Forestry University (Lviv), Goethe University Frankfurt, and the practice partner simpleFilm (Germany).
Together, 32 students explored pressing environmental topics:
• forest development and climate change,
• land use and wetland restoration,
• bark beetle infestation and its social, political, and economic impact,
• and how ecological knowledge spreads through social media.
The program combined exciting excursions with interactive workshops, giving students the chance to dive deep into these issues. In international teams, they also created short films about the summer school’s themes. A workshop by the simpleFilm team provided hands-on training in planning, producing, and editing professional, informative videos.
By the end of the program, two key goals were achieved: raising awareness of local climate change effects and empowering students to counter misinformation.
