Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) provide a promising drug delivery system for different kinds of drugs. By getting in contact with biological fluids (e.g. blood), proteins adsorb onto the surface of the particles, influencing the biodistribution of the particles in the body. Nathalie is working on surface functionalization of MSNs and the influence of the functionalization on protein adsorption and cellular uptake.
