    External Master's Thesis

    For the approval of extarnal thesis, the Chairman of the Examination Board requires a description of the thesis project with enough information in order to determine the subject-specific requirements.

    Admission Requirements to the Master's Thesis

    Before registering for the Master's Thesis, the following minimum requirements have to be be fulfilled:

    Physics M.Sc. (§17 FSPO)

    • minimum 12 ECTS in the Specialization section
    • minimum 9 ECTS in the section "Elective in Physics"
    • Advanced Physics Lab
    • Advanced Physics Seminar

     

    Biophysics M.Sc. (§15 FSPO)

    • Biophysics Laboratory Course, 8 ECTS
    • Biophysics Seminar, 4 ECTS
    • Biophysics: Fundamental Methods, 9 ECTS
    • Biophysics: Advanced Methods, 9 ECTS
    • minimum 1 module in the Specialization section
    • the full 9 ECTS from the Adaptation Modules
    • at least one of the two Research Projects

     

    Wirtschaftsphysik M.Sc. (Admission with a Wirtschaftsphysik B.Sc. (§20 FSPO))

    • Molekülphysik
    • Festkörperphysik
    • Hauptseminar Physik (M.Sc.)
    • minimum 31 ECTS in the section "Wahlbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften"
    • minimum 12 ECTS in the section "Wahlbereich Ökonophysik"

     

    Wirtschaftsphysik M.Sc. (Admission with a Physik B.Sc. (§20 FSPO))

    • Minimum 8 ECTS in the section "Wahlbereich Physik Master"
    • Hauptseminar Physik (M.Sc.)
    • minimum 31 ECTS in the section "Wahlbereich Wirtschaftswissenschaften"
    • minimum 12 ECTS in the section "Wahlbereich Ökonophysik"
  • Good Scientific Practice - report/thesis writing

    Please pay attention to the recommendations for Good Scientific Practice for the writing of reports and thesis in Physics, as agreed from the Plenum of the Konferenz der Fachbereiche Physik (KFP) (http://www.kfp-physik.de/dokument/index.html).

  • Final allocations of examinations

    It is possible to move the modules between the various examination areas only once before the final degree certificate is issued, under the following conditions:

    • The modules are allowed in the section of destination, according to the Module Handbook.
    • The criteria for the section of destination are met (for example, the minimum number of graded credits).

    Please note that the Exam Precourses cannot be listed in the Additional Credits section.

    Fill the appropriate form (within the Excel file) for your study programme and submit it together with your transcript of records to Herr Brackenhofer  (Studiendekanat Physik) before bringing it to the Studiensekretariat. The form must be presented before the submission of your Master's Thesis.

    For Biophysics M.Sc. please speak directly with Fr. Gebahrt to move/exchange examinations in the  Specialization area.
