Alumnus Prof Dr Dr Gerhard Rogler named new clinic director at the University Hospital Zurich

The hospital council of the University Hospital in Zurich (USZ) appointed Gerhard Rogler the new director of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department. Rogler succeeds Michael Fried, who is retiring.

Gerhard Rogler has been at USZ since 2007, serving as chief physician in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department. He studied human medicine at Ulm University between 1984 and 1991. He simultaneously completed his studies in philosophy in Ulm and Augsburg. In 1992, he achieved his Dr med degree. This was followed in 1996 by a doctorate in philosophy. In 1999, he completed his habilitation  (German postdoctoral lecturing qualification) at Regensburg University in the field of internal medicine.

Initially a chief physician at Regensburg University Hospital, he went on to become head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Internal Medicine I in 2002. He remained in this office until he changed to USZ.
