The University of Ulm awards the Ulm University Teaching Prize and teaching bonuses every year. With these prizes, the university recognizes individuals or groups for their outstanding achievements and special commitment to teaching. Their measures serve as role models in teaching; in addition to their actual purpose, they also act as a sign for follow-up projects and adaptations, and they document the fundamental importance of teaching at Ulm University.
For the teaching bonuses, the dean's offices nominate one candidate per faculty in coordination with the study committees. Any member of Ulm University can submit proposals for the Ulm University Teaching Award:
Regardless of which way you choose for your nomination: If you want to suggest a teacher or a team of lecturers for the University Teaching Award of the University of Ulm, your proposals must be justified and contain a meaningful description of the achievements proposed for the award.

Individuals from the academic staff of Ulm University who teach independently can be honored. This also includes lecturers. Working groups of teachers can also be honored for their achievements with the university teaching award or teaching bonus. The Ulm University Teaching Prize promotes individuals or groups whose measures demonstrate innovative and outstanding achievements and are exemplary in teaching (flagship projects), which, in addition to the actual purpose, can also send a signal for follow-up projects and adaptations.
The Ulm University Teaching Prize is awarded for innovative and outstanding performance in teaching. The measures should serve as role models in teaching (flagship projects); they should send out a signal for follow-up projects and adaptations.
In particular, the following criteria are applied to the selection of the award winners:
The courses of the award winners are well planned and convey high-quality and up-to-date teaching content.
The award winners are open to new teaching methods.
The structure and implementation of the courses is particularly good didactically.
The teaching materials used are clearly structured and are presented in a methodologically diverse way.
The award winners develop excellent study materials, textbooks, e-learning concepts, etc.
The award winners are committed to the further development of the curriculum and the range of courses and are committed to conceptually (further) developing study programs.
The award winners are involved in student counseling and supervision (e.g. tutorials, orientation events), promote student mobility in international cooperation, or pay special attention to inclusion and diversity in teaching and take this into account.
Any member of the university can submit proposals for the university teaching award and the special university award for outstanding student commitment to the Center for Teaching Development:

The proposals for award-winning teaching at the University of Ulm must be justified. In particular, the award criteria (see above) should be discussed. If you would like to propose a group, you must explain in detail the person who initiated the initiative and the contributions made by the persons proposed below. Only proposals that are received before the deadline for the respective period can be considered.
The Senate Teaching Committee elects a selection committee for a period of one year. The respective groups propose their representatives. The selection committee consists of:
In the composition, attention is paid to a balanced gender ratio and the participation of all faculties.
The Center for Teaching Development forwards the nomination proposals received to the Vice President for Teaching, who submits the proposals for the university teaching award to the selection committee. The selection committee evaluates and discusses the proposals submitted on time and includes the selection criteria in the justification for the proposals. It proposes a candidate for the university teaching award to the Senate Teaching Committee for award.
The President of Ulm University issues the winners of the Ulm Prizes with a certificate and awards it at a public event. As a rule, the award takes place during the ceremony for the Dies Academicus.
