Dr. Tobias Drey
Tobias Drey ist der HCI Gruppe im März 2019 als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter beigetreten. Sein Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf dem Einsatz von Augmented und Virtual Reality in der Lehre. Hierzu zählt neben der Untersuchung von Gestaltungsprinzipien für AR/VR Lernanwendung auch die Erforschung geeigneter In-Situ Authoring-Tools. Tobias hat seine Doktorarbeit mit dem Titel "Towards Mixed Reality in Education: Overcoming Challenges of Teaching, Learning, and Authoring" am 27. November 2023 mit summa cum laude verteidigt. Seine Forschungsarbeit wird durch die BMBF Projekte AuCity 2 und AuCity 3 gefördert. Bevor Tobias der HCI Gruppe beigetreten ist, war er seit 2013 als Software Engineer bei Airbus tätig.
Tobias hat einen M. Sc. in Informatik (2017) von der Universität Ulm. Seine Masterarbeit fertigte er in Kooperation mit Airbus an. Der Titel der Masterarbeit lautete: Investigation of the Applicability of Augmented Reality Head-Mounted Displays for Geographic Information Systems
Seinen B. Eng. in Informationstechnik erlangte Tobias 2013 an der Dualen Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Ravensburg/Friedrichshafen. Hier ist Tobias auch seit 2015 externer Lehrbeauftragter für die Vorlesungen Mobile Netzwerkarchitekturen und Mobile Sensorik und Aktorik und betreut und begutachtet ebenfalls Abschlussarbeiten.

Auszeichnungen (Auszug)
Im Jahr 2021 nahmen Studierende unter der Betreuung von Tobias beim Deutschen Computerspielpreis teil und wurden für das Serious Game The Social Engineer in der Kategorie Nachwuchspreis: Bester Prototyp nominiert.
Im Jahr 2013 nahm Tobias am Microsoft Imagine Cup teil und wurde zusammen mit seinem Team mit der AppCampus Startup Förderung von Microsoft und Nokia ausgezeichnet. Hierdurch konnte die gepitchte Projektidee zur marktreifen App ScreenFusion weiterentwickelt und vermarktet werden.
