Tag der Biologie

Tag der Biologie / 2023 BioDay – 3 May 2023

The Department of Biology at Ulm University invites interested scientists “in Ulm, um Ulm und um Ulm herum” to join the 2023 BioDay. The event aims to build and to strengthen scientific interactions within the Strategic Research Area “Stress and Resilience of Biological Systems”.

The 2023 BioDay will consist of a Public Lecture, which will be open to all, and a number of scientific and networking events (registration required for the latter).

Public Lecture (no registration required):

„The busy life of nascent chains: mechanisms of co-translational folding and assembly of proteins“

Prof. Dr. Bernd Bukau
Center for Molecular Biology of Heidelberg University (ZMBH) and German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg, Germany,
3 May 2023, 16:00, N27, Multimedia Room

2023 BioDay Full Programme (registration required):

The 2023 BioDay will be kicked off with a Scientific Speed Dating for all registered PhD students and PostDocs. Afterwards, there will be scientific presentations from the Department of Biology, a poster session from junior scientists and the Public Lecture by Prof. Bernd Bukau. The day will be concluded by a Get Together where we can mingle in the relaxed atmosphere of our beautiful Botanical Garden.

At the get together, we will have a ‘bring your own’ style barbeque; that is, you may bring whatever you would like to put on the barbeque.

Please note that there may be no separate non-meat grill. A contribution to a shared buffet (bread, salad, dessert etc.) would be very welcome. Drinks will be provided.

The Preliminary Programme of the 2023 BioDay can be found here

2023 BioDay Registration:

There are no registration fees, but we kindly ask you to register for the event. Lunch (vegetarian) and coffee breaks will be provided free of charge for registered participants. Participants with allergies or other special dietary requirements are kindly asked to make their own arrangements.

Junior scientists are strongly encouraged to present posters. If space is limiting, priority may be given to candidates who will present a poster. Posters should be put up on 3 May 2023 before 9:00 and must not be removed before 17:00. Our poster walls fit A0 posters, portrait format. Please bring pushpins. There will be a poster prize.
