Biodiversity and Ecology: Adaptations to a changing world
In this module the following subject-specific content is taught:
Systematics with special focus on biodiversity and use of modern methods
Biospheres (climate, vegetation, animal communities)
Stress ecophysiology, adaptation of plants
Introduction to animal-plant interactions (competition, predation, parasitism, herbivory, mutualism)
Communication and chemical ecology
Reciprocity between climate and plants
Evolution of the water transport system in terrestrial plants: the first fossil terrestrial plants and functional anatomy of the modern vascular tissue
Convergence in the susceptibility of trees to drought and the climate change
A special focus is on adaptations of organisms that are under influence of changing surroundings.
