Process Excellence United – Process-Flexibility.com

Ulm University

For more than a decade Opens internal link in current windowDBIS has been collaborating with BPM research groups from all over the world. Results from these collaborations are now made publically available on a new web site launched by DBIS - Opens external link in new windowprocess-flexibility.com.

The topics DBIS researchers addressed in joint research projects with partners include, for example, process flexibility, process modeling, process change, process compliance, process mining, and next generation process management technology. In the various collaborations, joint efforts were made to develop empirically-grounded frameworks (e.g., process change patterns, process time patterns, process variability patterns) for process engineers that enable them to evaluate existing BPM approaches, to select that approach meeting their requirements best, or to implement appropriate process-aware information systems in a given application environment. Furthermore, BPM books, scientific papers, conference tutorials, and other artefacts were created in joint activities of the process excellence network.

In detail, process-flexibility.com will provide

  • current news on the various activities of the process excellence network,
  • teaching materials (e.g., slides, figures and exercises) related to the joint book of Manfred Reichert (Ulm University) and Barbara Weber (University of Innsbruck / Copenhagen) on process flexibility issues,
  • summaries, materials, and animations of the BPM frameworks developed in joint initiatives of the process excellence network (e.g., change patterns, time patterns),
  • slides of keynote, tutorial, and colloquium presentations of members from the process excellence network,
  • and an overview of upcoming BPM events and conferences.

In future versions of the web site, additional frameworks (e.g., VIVACE process variability framework, C3Pro Compliance Monitoring Framework) and jointly developed BPM tools will be made available as well.
