From 1999 the Institute of Orthopaedic Research and Biomechanics was an accredited testing laboratory according to ISO 17025, directives 93/42/EEC and 90/385/EEC. At that time, it was one of Germany’s first university departments with an accredited quality management system. The accreditation, that lasted until 2015, applied to biological tests of medical devices and physical tests of plastics.

Since 2019 the institute is certified according to ISO 9001. In 2022 the re-certification was successfull.
