Dr. Jens Friedland
Research assistant, Institute of Chemical Engineering
Jens Friedland particularly enjoys combining research with teaching and working with students. His research focuses on sustainable chemical processes, new reactor concepts and future-oriented topics such as e-fuels and applications for space travel.
He particularly values the fact that colleagues work together on equal terms and develop new ideas collaboratively. For him, the personal interaction at Ulm University makes the difference: people know one another, work closely together and support each other, even across institute boundaries.
Luna Lindenfeld
Apprentice, Central University Administration
Even during her first interview, Luna Lindenfeld knew that she wanted to complete her apprenticeship at Ulm University. She was particularly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the strong sense of community and the team spirit.
As part of her apprenticeship in office management, she gains experience in a range of different departments. She values the variety of her work and the trust placed in her, for example when helping to prepare important meetings.
Dr. Caroline Willich
Research assistant, Institute for Energy Conversion and Storage
Caroline Willich conducts research into hybrid-electric aircraft propulsion systems and the development of fuel-cell-based systems for future low-emission aircraft.
Together with her research team and project partners, she tests systems under real flight conditions in the experimental laboratories she has established. She is particularly motivated by successful collaboration and by supporting early-career researchers in their development.
Titus Ebert
Gardener, Botanical Garden
Titus Ebert is responsible for the plants in the greenhouses and outdoor collections of the Botanical Garden. His work includes maintaining, growing and presenting the botanical collection for teaching and research, as well as for visitors to the garden.
He particularly enjoys the combination of plant care, research and working with students. In his day-to-day work, he values teamwork and the exchange of ideas with colleagues. As plants, projects and tasks are constantly changing, every day brings something new to learn.
Hannah Mielke
Scientific Workshop (Carpentry)
Hannah Mielke works as a carpenter in the Scientific Workshop at Ulm University, where she also completed her apprenticeship.
She particularly enjoys the variety of her work: no two projects are the same, and she is involved in many assignments from start to finish. Whether producing furniture, laboratory fittings or larger campus projects, she values being able to see the results of what has been achieved together as a team.
