Beruflicher Werdegang

Prof. Dr. med. Dietrich Rothenbacher leitet seit Dezember 2010 das Institut für Epidemiologie und Medizinische Biometrie an der Medizinischen Fakultät Ulm der Universität Ulm. Nach dem Studium der Medizin an der Universität Ulm arbeitete er von 1989-1991 am Institut für Arbeits- und Sozialmedizin der Universität Ulm. An der “School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (USA)” absolvierte er dann einen Master of Public Health (MPH) im Fach Epidemiology.  Nach einer klinischen Weiterbildungszeit auf der Inneren Medizin Anerkennung als Arzt für Arbeitsmedizin. Danach war er als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Aufbau des neu-gegründeten Institut für Epidemiologie der Universität Ulm beteiligt. Weitere Stationen führten ins Deutsche Zentrum für Alternsforschung (2000-2005) und ans Deutsche Krebsforschungszentrum (2006), beide in Heidelberg. Von 2007-2010 war er bei der Novartis Pharma AG in Basel in der Abteilung „Drug Safety and Epidemiology“ tätig.
